Christ. Son of God. Son of Man. Rabbi. Miracle Worker. Revolutionary. A Man Named Joshua.
A couple of billion people on the planet call themselves Christians, but who was Christ? During this time of the year, we look toward the Passion Week and Easter to remember what Jesus has done mainly his death and resurrection. But his entire life was something extraordinary; a challenging call to the Way that God desires each of us to live.
If he walked into one of our churches today, he would stick out like a sore thumb and he would probably be okay with that. He was Jewish. His dark Palestinian skin would make him look more like a someone you see on the international news than your pastor in the pulpit.
He’s nothing like us. He was God Incarnate. That in and of itself is enough to blow your mind. His love and wisdom were unlike anything we’ve ever seen. His teachings and miracles stunned people.
He’s very much like us. He was human. He got tired. Hungry. Thirsty. He laughed and cried. He loved a good story and even a good party. Chances are he cut a rug from time to time.
He was God. He was Man. And he changed everything.
For the next few weeks, “The Amalgam” will be focusing on Jesus. Through Easter (and possibly through the end of April), there will be an update each week. There will be narrative re-tellings of Jesus stories (we hope you check out the originals too). There will be articles about Jesus, who he was and what he meant. There will be art about Jesus. So keep checking back here each week. And don’t let Easter pass you by without thinking and meditating on what God has done through His Son.
