TJ: well, fortunately i met taylor through chris. that was quite a fateful meeting, you know? first time i met my roommate of three years, first time i ever heard about this camp called seesalt ... haha
Lauren: that is pretty crazy amazing
Lauren: do you remember when you felt like furman was your home?
TJ: first day.
TJ: seriously - i arrive in the pouring rain, and the first person who greets me is named noah (who is still one of my friends)
TJ: after i get all my stuff in, 4 or 5 guys invite me and taylor to their room to play hold 'em ... each of them is still a close friend
Lauren: that's awesome
Lauren: i remember the girl who helped me carry my stuff in that rainy day. and then the first person i really met was laura- who is now one of my closest friends ever
Lauren: i didn't feel like furman was home till october of freshman year though. i remember that day. i drove back from home in royston, got on campus, and had the feeling of home- it was strange
TJ: when i went home for fall break, i felt like i was a stranger in a strange land. some people give me heck for that, but i don't think it's a bad thing at all. you gotta move on in life, learn to adapt where life takes you.
TJ: (obviously this conversation is crafted to be published)
Lauren: :)
Lauren: what things shaped you freshman year that made you different than before you got there?
TJ: being around guys who wanted to talk about stuff other than cars and sports.
TJ: thanks to religion 11, i really began to enjoy reading the Bible.
TJ: learning that there are people that you can trust with things.
TJ: learning that christianity is more about what we do than about what we don't do.
TJ: lots of things really, but those stick out to me
Lauren: yeah
Lauren: i think having more mature conversations with people played a big part in my growth
Lauren: and the classes- i was learning things that applied to my life and it was exciting. i actually wanted to read the stuff for class and talk about what we were learning outside the classroom. i feel like a nerd sometimes- but people don't look at you weird- usually
TJ: haha
TJ: that's the truth
TJ: i never liked being in class till i got to college
TJ: well what else should we discuss?
Lauren: hmm. how did your relationship with God develop
TJ: oooo
TJ: good question
Lauren: :)
TJ: ok
TJ: here goes
