So Far

by Chase Neely
As the newborn Savior raised his head
And he looked around his makeshift bed
He wondered why His matchless love had to reach so far
Then He looked into his mother’s eyes
And the baby stopped to realize
That His perfect life had come to save a wretched one like hers

How could love reach so far?
To a lowly stable marked only by a single shining star
How could You give Your gift to a world confused and dazed by who You are?

With a new outlook on why He came
The Savior began to play the game
A Shepherd now a sheep to guide His whole flock safely home
He was truly different from the rest
Sent by God and by Him blessed
A blessing to those who love Him most who to Him freely come

How could love reach so far?
To a lowly stable marked only by a single shining star
How could You give Your gift to a world confused and dazed by who You are?

Then He looked into His mother’s eyes
And the baby stopped to realize
That she was why His perfect love had to reach so far
