Summertime a survey 1. Best Road Trip Song?
(also known as the “Windows-Down-Driving-On-The-Highway Song”)
TJ - “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen
Tiffany - “Till Kingdom Come” by Coldplay
Josh - Anything by James Taylor
Bill - “Gotta Keep on Rollin’”
Kat - Anything by *NSync or “Life is Highway
Kathy - Growing up our whole family would sing songs to pass the time
Lauren - Anything by the Beach Boys
Chris - “Beautiful Day” by U2; there’s really no argument about this
Anna - “I Must Be Dreaming” by Frou Frou (with volume all the way up, all windows down, and hands in the air as I drive with my knees) 2. Best Vacation You’ve Ever Had? EA - “Hands down, my honeymoon.”
Mitch - “New York”
Anna - “Cruise to the Caribbean for my 16th birthday with all my crazy family and my best friend--we still laugh about inside jokes made on that trip.”
Chris - “Vacation? Definitely honeymoon. ‘Vacation,’ sophomore trip to Cuba.”
Lauren - “I went with my family out west last summer.”
Kathy - “Had to be when I was 12, and our family camped our way to California and back in 3 weeks. It was great! Oh, but wait, Bill and I went to Hawaii on 2 occasions, that was great too!
Kat - “July 4th week at beach with my family growing up.”
Bill - “Hawaii (actually a conference trip, but seemed like a vacation - better yet an expenses paid vacation).”
Josh - “The one where my papa and uncle yelled in a restaurant over whether a coyote and a wolf were the same animal.”
TJ - “High school chorus trip to Orlando (Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure).”

3. What place would you like to go on Vacation that you have never been to before? Kathy - “I really like to travel, so for starters, New Zealand, Europe, China, Alaska, the South Pacific.....and so on.”
Lauren - “The Amazon rain forest and swim with the dolphins that live in the Amazon River.”
Kat - “A Caribbean island.”
Bill - “Eurasia.”
Chris - “If I could do the ‘Amazing Race’ that would be pretty cool. But I need to learn to drive stick.”
TJ - “Greece and Italy.”
Anna - “Europe.”
Mitch - “Hmmm...South Dakota.”
EA - “I’d like to take a few months and travel around Europe and Asia, specifically Spain, France, England, Italy, Greece, India, China, Japan. Oh, and Africa, too.”
Tiffany - “Austria - music history and all that.”
Josh - “Easy. Parangaragutirimiquaro: It’s a small village in Mexico. Besides that, it’s just fun to say.” 4. Mountains or Beach? Why? Anna - “Beach. I love to sit by the water all day and read and sunbathe and sleep and listen to music and philosophize about my life.”
Bill - “I like both (Hawaii has both). Why? I like the ocean. I like huge rocks with lots of trees and cool breezes.”
Tiffany - “Definitely mountains. They are so beautiful, and I have really good memories from all the camping of my childhood. Living 45 minutes away from the most visited National Park also helps.”
Mitch - “Mountains. Cause it’s so nice and sand doesn’t get everywhere.”
TJ - “Best thing about South Carolina, you get ‘em both!”
EA - “Honestly, it depends on my mood. For me, the mountains are relaxing and refreshing and the beach is a place to laugh and have fun.”
Kathy- “Mountains, because there is more variety in landscape, not to mention there is notable difference in the seasons. I like changing seasons.”
Josh - “Meach. I like to have the best of both worlds.”
Kat - “Beach, I enjoy basking in the sun with the sand between my toes.”
Lauren - “Mountains. You can spend a week in the mountains and see no one but your family and incredible beauty.” 5. Summer Blockbusters: Great Popcorn Munching Enjoyment or the End of Cinema as We Know It? Chris - “It depends on the film, but popcorn is necessary when watching a blockbuster movie. It should be federal law.”
TJ - “God’s joy in celluloid form.”
Anna - “I love summer blockbusters and I can’t go to the movies without getting popcorn with lots of butter.”
Tiffany - “Not unlike TJ, I have the guilty pleasure of just watching fun, cheesy movies. It doesn’t have to always be the best script or the most artsy cinematography, as long as I have fun watching it.”
Mitch - “I really don’t like popcorn, but I like movies a lot.”
Josh - “Trilogies ‘R’ Us.”
Lauren - “Um, I’m ignorant in this category.”
Bill - “I’m a big fan of sitting in a cool, dark place with good popcorn and a decent movie.”
Kathy - “It depends on the movie you are watching. There are some I’ve seen that it was not worth the money I paid for it.”
EA - “All I have to say is that War of the Worlds was the End-of-Cinema-As-We-Know-It.”
Kat - “Great Popcorn Munching Enjoyment.” 6. What Movie are you most looking forward to this summer? Bill - “Seesalt Opening Video and Closing Highlight Video.”
Josh - “Pirates 3 (el short title).”
EA - “That is a tough one...Shrek the Third and the third Pirates movie both look good. I guess it’ll just be a summer of thirds. Maybe I should see each one three times for good measure.”
Tiffany - “Well, since I stopped reading the books at the fourth, I guess Harry Potter since I have no idea what’s going to happen.”
Kat - “Pirates of the Caribbean 3. I like pirates. Especially pirates that look like Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.”
TJ - “Well, since Spider-Man 3 was total DUD...definitely The Bourne Ultimatum.”
Lauren - “The Seesalt Videos; I really don’t know of others.”
Kathy - “’Pirates 3,’ ‘Shrek 3,’ ‘Ocean’s 13,’ oh wait, that is more than one movie. Sorry! At least I stopped.”
Mitch - “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”
Chris - “Ratatouille. Pixar hasn’t let me down yet.”
Anna - “Spider-Man 3, but I already saw it!” 7. You’re Going on a Road Trip with 3 Other people from history of your choosing: Who’s Coming? Where are you Going? And Who’s Driving? Tiffany - “Me, Beethoven, Bach, Gandhi. I will be driving, Bach will be yelling at Beethoven for breaking all the rules, Beethoven will be yelling in general because he’s deaf and crazy, and Gandhi will be yelling at everyone not to fight. We will be going to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH.”
Bill - “My mom, my dad, and Jesus. Jesus is driving. We’re going wherever he wants to take us.”
Kat - “needtobreathe (I’m counting the band as one person) [Editor’s Note: That’s cheating], my friend Lauren, and a chauffeur. Wherever ntb’s tour takes them. The chauffeur!”
Lauren - “Mark Twain, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and little David with his harp. We would take a trip with many stops by rivers and fields and woods and have story time and listen to the harp. Laura can drive; she is a female who knows what a car is.”
EA - “My maternal grandmother because I never had the chance to meet her. My paternal grandfather because there are a lot of questions I want to ask him. And third, my cousin Jim because we didn’t get enough time together on earth. We would drive up the West Coast Highway. I would probably have to drive because I’m a control freak and I know for certain Jim was a bit of a risk taker and I couldn’t handle that on cliffs above the ocean.”
Anna - “My best friend, her mom, and her crazy grandmother. We take a road trip every year and it is always the best and funniest time of my year. ”
Chris - “Abraham Lincoln, The Edge, and Francis of Assisi. We’re taking the All-American road trip: Grand Canyon, Pacific Coast, and Yellowstone. I guess I’m driving since I want Abe telling stories, The Edge playing his guitar, and Francis would keep pulling over to frolic through the fields.”
TJ - “Benjamin Franklin, Justin Martyr, and Johnny Cash. We’re hanging out at a beach house. I’m probably driving; Ben and Justin don’t know cars and I want Johnny playing some tunes.”
Mitch - “Ummm...Jesus...Bono...and Will Ferrell. Jesus takes the wheel...Haha, that was so corny.”
Kathy - “Jesus (who is also driving), Mary (Jesus’ mother), and maybe George Washington. We can go wherever Jesus wants to take us.”
Josh - “Bill Cosby, Martin Luther, and Chris Martin. We’re going to Canada and Luther is driving because Cosby needs to be available to pass out puddin’ pops and Chris Martin wrecked while filming “The Scientist”. 8. Favorite Summer Memory? Lauren - “Corn Day with my family (cows, shucks, little green worms, lots of dirt, many laughs).”
EA - “Summer after my junior year of high school, my girlfriends and I would drive around with the top off the Jeep listening to the radio and laughing a lot. Another favorite summer memory is my wedding, but it’s my favorite memory in a different sort of way.”
Tiffany - “Building a fort in the ‘woods’ with my neighbor Gary.”
TJ - “Seesalt (and no Bill, I’m not sucking up to you).”
Josh - “Babysitting my pastor’s kids and teaching them to say really cool stuff like ‘What’s up dog?’ when they were like two.”
Kat - “Spending the week with my grandparents at the lake.”
Anna - “Going to camps and World Changers and meeting new people and vacation with fam to Destin, FL.”
Mitch - “Just driving into the mountains until it was dark for a couple of days.”
Bill - “Seeing Kathy dressed in solid white on August 11, 1979.”
Chris - “Getting married and every summer of Seesalt.”
Kathy - “The summer I got married. 9. Who do You have in first place at the All-Star Break? Mitch - “Who do you have in first place at the All-Star Break?”
Kathy - “The Atlanta Braves. Who else?”
Chris - “In the NL East, the Braves and Mets have been going back and forth the entire season. I hope it’s the Braves, but whoever it is it won’t be by much. Brewers in the NL Central, D-Backs in the NL West, Red Sox in the AL East, Tigers in the AL Central, Angels in the AL West.”
Kat - “I don’t even know what this question means.”
Bill - “God (if we’re talking baseball, I don’t do office pools. But I hope it’s the Braves).”
Lauren - “My dad likes the ALL-STAR BREAKfast at Waffle House. That’s all I know.”
TJ - “Mets by a game and a half, but Atlanta takes the lead the next week and never gives it up. GO BRAVES!”
Anna - “What?”
EA - “The Braves! Who else?!”
Josh - “I don’t know what that means...”
Tiffany - “Braves, duh.” 10. What are you looking forward to the most this summer? Kat - “Fun times with fun folks at Seesalt and beyond.”
Mitch - “Seesalt, Son...just everything. I am so excited to be apart of it and to have this opportunity.”
EA - “I’m definitely excited about Seesalt, but I’m also looking forward to spending some time in Nashville with my family as well as the weddings of some close friends and the Discipleship Reunion. Also, I’m looking forward to August because we’re most likely getting a puppy! And in August, Kat will have posted the 36th and final Seesalt album.”
Chris - “Seesalt. The whole experience. Training. Rehearsals. Seeing the students. Bible studies. Dramas. Hanging out with the staff. The Seesalt Open and Not Yet Masters Miniature Golf Tournaments. Arky-Arky. The whole thing. And then discovering what a vacation is in August.”
Lauren - “Going to Destin, FL and Callaway Gardens with all 7 members of my family.”
Anna - “Working on staff at Seesalt.”
Kathy - “Getting to know the Seesalt staff, and the people who come to Seesalt. Then, Family Vacation!”
Josh - “Just the whole big honkin’ summer.”
Bill - “Spending time with our extended family (aka Seesalt Staff), seeing God work in amazing ways, and I hear talk that we’re taking a family vacation somewhere; that could be nice.” The Amalgam Home Summer:
