1998 - Monday evening Art to Heart for Colleton Baptist Association youth rally. My random funny memory of this one is that Director of Missions Zane Brown and I were impressed with ourselves for extending and accepting the invitation and working out all the planning details without ever once talking on the phone - thanks to some new technology called "email." We felt like real pioneers. Thanks, Zane.
2018 - Friday evening Art to Heart in Lesesne Auditorium at Erskine College in Due West, SC. Seesalt alumni Kieffer Mendoza went with us to lead music. Thank you, Christian Student Association.

1984 - I'm a little confused about this one. Calendar says I led youth rally for NGC (which would have been North Greenville College) at First Baptist Church in Marietta, SC. Wondering if it might have been for North Greenville Baptist Association. Probably did Art to Heart, but might have done a three-screen multi-image presentation.
1989 - Friday evening Art to Heart for South Carolina - Georgia Baptist Young Men's Conference at North Augusta, First Baptist Church. Thank you, Gail Hallman. (And while I’m being confused, I wonder if this might have actually been for Baptist Young Women’s Conference.)

1981 - Did a Sunday evening Art to Heart at a Corinth Baptist Church. There are a lot of them, and I'm not sure which one.
1983 - Did Art to Heart as part of leading student revival November 7-9 at Murray State University in Murray, KY. The students did an incredible job of promoting the revival including getting the support of seemingly the whole town. It was a unique experience to ride around Murray and see my name on the sign of every fast food restaurant in town, plus any other businesses that had signs with movable letters. It was quite amazing and amusing. Thank you campus minister, Jim Simmons.

1980 - While in the Atlanta area recording "Bill & Kathy Cox - Abundantly" November 9-18 at Twelve Oaks Studio with Randy Bugg and Sonny Lallerstedt of The Pat Terry Group, over the weekend we did a Sunday evening Art to Heart at Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany, GA. We also did something at Byne on Saturday and Sunday morning. When they found out we had been recording an album that week, we were introduced Sunday morning for the first time as "recording artists." My singing has never been the strongest part of our ministry, and after a week of recording vocals, our voices were rather tired. I remember not feeling like we lived up to that new introduction. Hopefully Art to Heart was good that night. Thank you, Jim Pagan.

2019 - Sunday evening Art to Heart at Ebenezer Baptist Church in West Union, SC. I thought I knew South Carolina pretty well, but got a geography update on this one. Union, SC is 30 miles southeast from where we live, so I figured West Union, SC should be even closer to home. Wrong. West Union, SC is indeed west of Union, SC, but over 105 miles west of Union on the far western side of the state. Fortunately I didn't wait until the incorrect time I thought we should leave to map the directions. We got there on time.

1977 - Some uncertainty on this one. Calendar says we did program for a youth conference November 18-19 at "White Oak." Started to say that I wasn't sure if it was White Oak Baptist Church in Greenville, SC or White Oak Conference Center, but since WOCC didn't open until 1979, that settles that question. I'm pretty sure we did Art to Heart on one of those two days, but not sure which day. And now that I think more about it, there's a very good chance that the youth conference was headed up by John Lenning of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. I think it was a short time later that John and his family joined Taylors First Baptist Church where I was serving as minister to youth. John became a great friend, one of our biggest encouragers, and was the original Vice-President of Bill Cox Abundant Life Ministries, later known as Concoxions. Whether or not he invited us to this particular event (and I think he did), I will always owe Johnny Lenning huge thanks.

1988 - Sunday evening Art to Heart at Reedy Fork Baptist Church in Moonville, SC. This was originally scheduled for August, but was rescheduled due to the death of my mom. Thank you, Brian Smith.

1982 - Did a Sunday evening Art to Heart as part of leading a three-day retreat in Birmingham, AL November 19-21. I suspect that Art to Heart was done for the Sunday evening service of the host church, but I don't know what church it was. I do know that Ginger May invited us and headed up the retreat, so thank you, Ginger.
November 22
1996 - Did Art to Heart as part of ministering in Lexington, KY November 21-24. I don't remember what or where in Lexington it was or which day we did what (also did three-screen media presentations). What I do remember is that the day before we were to leave for Lexington, our van broke down, leaving us with nothing to pull our 16-foot trailer full of equipment. I was nearing the end of a four-month interim as minister of youth at First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, and that night there was a wonderful dinner in our honor with all of our adult youth leadership hosted by Randy and Renee Welchel. In the course of conversation I mentioned our dilemma. Richard Duncan, one of our adult leaders, immediately spoke up and told me to take his pick-up truck. I thanked him but questioned whether or not it would be able to tow our heavy trailer. He told me it had dual rear wheels, a towing package, and even the correct size ball. Thank you Richard and Sharon for saving the day for that trip. Thank you Randy and Renee for having us all at your house at the perfect time, and thank you also to all the many other adult youth leaders who helped make those four months of ministry at FBS a great experience.
1997 - Did Art to Heart as part of leading a retreat for Stan Stone November 21-23 at Awanita Valley camp near Marietta, SC. Over the years I did a lot of ministry with Stan and we became close friends, beginning with my years of working with the SC Baptist Convention and continuing long afterwards. Sadly, it was not long enough. Stan passed away almost 12 years ago. He and I were almost the exact same age. I think about him a lot. Thank you, Stan.
